Wednesday, November 23, 2005Preview of Browns vs. Vikings
Last week was MARVELOUS!!!!
The Browns not only won but they dominated the Miami Dolphins. Congratulations Browns. This week the Browns take on the red-hot Minnesota Vikings at 10am on Sunday. This should be a good game. I hope there is a big crowd at the Great Basin Brewery to root on the Browns. See you on Sunday. Wednesday, November 16, 2005Preview of Browns vs. Dolphins
Hi everyone. This writer has decided to skip the recap of the Browns vs. Steelers game because other than the great opening drive the rest of the game was rather depressing.
On a more upbeat note, come to Sunday's Browns game versus the Dolphins. The game starts at 10am at the Great Basin Brewery. This si a very good cause because regardless of how the Browns play on Sunday, get in the holiday mood by helping your neighbors here in Northern Nevada who are having a hard time right now. We are having a fundraiser for the Northern Nevada Food Bank. Have a beer and help those less fortunate. Hopefully, as a payback for our good deeds, the Browns will reciprocate and put on a good showing. Tuesday, November 08, 2005Preview of Browns vs. Steelers
Sunday Nov. 13th marks a game many Browns fans have been waiting for: a Sunday Night game which will be nationally televised against the hated Pittsburgh Steelers.
Big Ben most likely won't play so the Browns go against Charlie Batch who didn't look too good in relief last week. Game time is 5:30 PM!!! Meet at the Great Basin Brewery to root on the Browns. Can they win 2 games in a row? See you there!!! Recap of Browns vs. TitansTuesday, November 01, 2005Preview of Browns vs. Titans
Ever-optimistic Browns fans will gather once again on Sunday at 10am at the Great Basin Brewery to hope for a victory against the Titans. The Titans, like the Browns have had their problems this year so it should be an interesting contest.
Don't give up hope, come and cheer for our Brownies!!! Recap of Browns vs. Texans
I will try to not dwell on the negatives so I won't talk about the fact that another winnable game turned into a loss. The fact that the Browns lost to a winless team only exacerbates the frustration all Browns fans feel.
The positive was that a good crowd showed up Sunday, most wearing costumes. A good time was had by all. Tuesday, October 25, 2005Preview of Browns vs. Texans
Since by nature Browns fans are psoitive thinkers, we will predict victory on the road against the winless Texans. Trent Dilfer MUST improve on last week's sad performance.
This week, we are having the annual Halloween Costume contest. There are 2 chances to win a prize. One judging will be based on best Browns attire and the other will be on best (ie., most outlandish) costume. Regardless of whether the Browns win or lose, come down at 10am to the Great Basin Brewery and have a pint and wear your best costume. You are sure to have great time. Recap of Browns vs. Lions
Browns fans there is not much to say regarding this last game. It was another one of those games that we could of won and should of won but didn't win.
The bright spot was a 90 yard kickoff return for a TD by rookie Joshua Cribbs. A good turnout showed up at Great Basin Brewery for the game. A few new members signed up to join the Northern Nevada Browns Backers. A good time was had by all except for the results of the game. Congratulations Club ... Two weeks ago you raised over $640.00 at the silent auction... Let's first thank member Colleen Limon for acquiring the donations that she did for the auction and her RGJ contact for getting information on the auction into the newspaper. Let's discuss how this money might be spent. If we send $250.00 to the Cleveland Browns Foundation, the money will go back into the Cleveland Community. We will receive from the foundation: BB Goody Bag with 5 pens, 5 lapel pins, and 3 bottle koozies: plus 5 ticket holders and lanyards, 2 stress footballs, 2 Browns Backers pennants: plus a Browns Drawstring bag and a leather pad-folio: plus a Cleveland Browns merchandise item: and an autographed item from a Browns alumni. We can use all of the above-mentioned items for a raffle and raise even more money for the club. We also stated that we were raising funds for Hurricane Katrina relief, but who to send the money to? I looked up the New Orleans Saints website and they have a Hurricane Katrina relief fund. Think about how excited the Saints might feel to know that the Northern Nevada Browns Backers were supporting citizens from their community by receiving a check for $390.00 from our club. What do you think? Here's the real kicker for us though...Because of Colleen's efforts to get auction items and info into the RGJ, a columnist, David Jacobs, called me last week (he got the from our website that Matt Comprix has been maintaining) and there will be free publicity for our club in this coming Saturday's paper. To make a long story short he wanted to know why we were raising funds and where they were going. He was impressed that we are not just a bunch of Browns fans who get together every Sunday to cheer on our team and that we make an effort to put money back into the Cleveland Community, help with Hurricane Relief and raise funds and food for our own community here in Reno/Sparks. What an opportunity!! He's also interested in the possibility of advertising our upcoming fundraiser for the Northern Nevada Food Bank that we have been doing for the past several years. David is from Toledo, Ohio (as is Matt) but he's a Lions fan. David is going to try to come watch the Lions-Browns Game next week in order to meet us. This is great news. To top it all off David's parents and a cousin of mine, who currently lives in Toledo, are good friends, so this is the round about way that David ended up calling me...Small world! This is all exciting news for our Club!! Finally getting on the "map." Go Browns!!! Monday, October 17, 2005Preview---Browns vs. Detroit Lions Oct. 23
Shake off the bad performance against the Ravens and come and cheer the Browns on to victory against the Lions. It should be a better game because the Browns were embarassed against the Ravens.
Come prepared to participate in a prize raffle which will be held during the game. Have some of the best beer in Reno made fresh at the Great Basin Brewery. See you there Sunday @ 10 AM!!! Recap---Browns vs. Ravens
A sad and somber crowd watched the debacle of the Browns vs. the Ravens in the 16-3 defeat. The Browns performance was so lackluster that the biggest cheers were for penalties which went against the Ravens.
This was a file and forget game. Enough said!!!
